Synopsis
Since childhood, Cole Malby (Tyler Christopher) has been tormented by the memory of his father, a coal miner who he witnessed die in a horrible mine explosion. He spends his days working on a farm where he lives with his younger brother Patrick (Jason Widener) and their invalid mother (Sally Kirkland).
When wealth landowner Phillip Hart dies, his greedy widow penny (Dee Wallace Stone) decides to sell her late husbands properties, including the farm where Cole makes his living and his family calls home. Out of desperation, he begins a frantic search through town records and documents to unearth any information which may help keep the farm. What he discovers is that beneath the surface of his sleepy town lies a decade of lies, betrayal and murder.
Tensions rise between Cole and Patrick as the vie for the attentions of a beautiful girl in town (Jacqueline Aries) - one who may hold the key to revealing some of the town's secrets. Cole begins to connect the Hart family to an insurance scam involving the mine explosion which crippled the town all those years ago, realising that his father's death may not have been an accident after all. Once he becomes falsely accused of killing Penny Hart, he must race to clear his name, save his land and discover the truth.
