Synopsis
El Salvador, 1985
A country in civil war. Death squads murder by night and people live in constant feat of their lives. When Carlos and his wife Nelli are arrested Carlos witnesses his wife's torture and murder and vows revenge against the leader of the Death Squads, a man known only as 'Mister Smith'.
Los Angeles, 1992
The war in El Salvador is at an end. After years of searching Carlos learns that 'Mister Smith' might be back in Los Angeles. Crossing the U.S. border illegally, Carlos arrives in a city out of control from mobs burning and looting over the Rodney King beating verdict.

Carlos tracks down the man he suspects to his house and takes him prisoner. An outraged David Miller, a respected banker and political candidate, insists that he has never been to Latin America and is not 'Mister Smith'. Carlos tortures him to obtain a confession, and begins to realise that his past and future are in this man's hands.
Is this an innocent man or is he the leader of the death squads? And is Nelli really still alive? If she is does this man know where?
